Birds in Flight

4 hours, hands-on, in-field photography tuition


Spend an intensive hands-on session photographing birds in flight with Ákos Lumnitzer, who has over 20 years experience capturing stunning images of our unique and beautiful Australian fauna.

This is an ideal course for the photographer looking to take their photography to the next level, or the birding enthusiast who yearns to capture better images of their subjects in flight. Ákos will introduce you to his techniques and he will show you how he endeavours to capture technically proficient images of birds in flight.

Perfect your technique capturing images of fast moving subjects, explore focus mode options, learn about the limitations of various focal lengths for wildlife, gain a better understanding of the role of shutter speed, increase your confidence in photographing in low light, manage noise in your final images, understand histograms and how to make them work for you plus so much more.

Ákos will help you develop your photographic skills, improve your knowledge of avian behaviour and increase your overall confidence in flight photography.


Cost:
Half-day, 4 hours tuition: $590 for 1 person, or $295ea for 2 people

Each session is strictly limited to two people to enable Ákos to provide personalised support and attention when shooting in-field. You are welcome to discuss your experience with Ákos over the phone to help you decide if this course will be suitable for your skills and expertise.


What to bring:
You need to have your own digital SLR camera and a lens of at least 300mm focal length; preferably longer. You must also understand the basic operation of your own camera and lens(es) – E.g. changing the metering or AF drive mode, adjusting the focus limiter of your lens etc.

You need to wear comfortable clothing and sensible shoes. For your own comfort – bring a bottle of water, a hat and sunscreen and sunglasses.


PLEASE NOTE: These sessions do not cater for attendees with point and shoot cameras. You will be required to carry your own gear over uneven ground and rough terrain. If your mobility is compromised in any way, please consider signing up for one of Ákos’ seminars instead. You will need to arrange your own transport to and from the photographic location(s). If you are visiting from interstate or overseas, please contact Ákos to discuss suitable alternatives.

Wildlife Photography

Spend an informative day photographing wildlife with Ákos Lumnitzer, who has over 20 years experience capturing stunning images of our unique and beautiful Australian fauna.

Ákos will introduce you to some of his favourite locations in and around the Greater Sydney Area, where he will show you how he endeavours to capture images of the local birds and animals. You will learn about exposure, noise control, shutter speeds and apertures and how they affect your final image. Explore how lighting and composition can improve your photographs and learn how to position yourself to capture the best possible images of your subjects.

Ákos will help you develop your photographic skills, improve your knowledge of bird and animal behaviour and increase your overall confidence in wildlife photography.

Half-day, 4 hours tuition*: $595 for 1 person, or $290ea for 2 attendees.

Full-day, 8 hours tuition: (light lunch and snacks included) $990 for 1 person, or $495ea for 2 people
