The Nikon D3 and 600mm f/4VR lens
Man, what a kick-ass combo this is! My friend Stephen Davey of the Avkomp fame (www.photography.avkomp.com) has had this beast of an outfit for some three years. Some days I am lucky that he lets me use the set-up for a few shots. He is a great friend as he trusts my skills in handling some 7-8kg of camera/glass in the hand without a tripod even at times. These couple of images here were all captured with the legendary Nikon D3 / 600mm f/4 VR combo. Thanks Steve. Now I can hardly wait to get my Canon EF 500mm f/4L IS USM lens sometime this week so I can improve my photographic opportunities with birds.
